Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Moulin Audiobook Player (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Moulin is an audiobook player that allows users to play local audio files and synchronize playback progress across devices. The App offers both a free tier and a paid “Pro” tier with additional features.

3. User Accounts and Sync

  • Anonymous Access: You may use the App anonymously.
  • Cloud Sync: To use Cloud Sync features, you may authenticate via Google, Apple, or Email (Magic Link). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • Data Responsibility: While we strive to back up data, you are responsible for keeping local copies of your audiobook files. Validating and backing up your personal library metadata is your responsibility.

4. Purchases and Subscriptions

  • Pro Features: Certain features (e.g., Cloud Sync, Advanced Theming) may require a “Pro” purchase.
  • Payment Processors:
    • Mobile (iOS/Android): Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) via RevenueCat.
    • Desktop (Windows/Linux): Payments are processed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle.
  • Taxes: Prices may be inclusive or exclusive of tax depending on your region and the Merchant of Record’s policies.

5. Intellectual Property

The Moulin App, including its code, design, and branding, is the property of Vermeulen Solutions and is protected by copyright laws. You may not reverse engineer, copy, or distribute the App without explicit permission.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “AS IS” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vermeulen Solutions shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: If you sign up for Cloud Sync, we collect your email address and authentication identifiers provided by third-party providers (Google/Apple).
  • Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the App.
  • Sync Data: We store playback progress, bookmarks, and library structure (shelves) on our servers (via Appwrite) to enable synchronization between your devices. We do not upload or store your actual audiobook audio files.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide and maintain the Cloud Sync service.
  • To process payments and verify “Pro” entitlements.
  • To improve App performance and fix bugs.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services which may process your data:

  • Appwrite: For backend services, database, and authentication.
  • Paddle: For processing payments on desktop platforms. Paddle acts as the Merchant of Record.
  • RevenueCat: For managing subscriptions and purchases across platforms.
  • Apple/Google: For authentication and mobile payments.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

  • We retain your sync data as long as your account is active.
  • You may request account deletion at any time via the App settings or by contacting info@getmoulin.com. Upon deletion, all your synced data will be removed from our servers.

5. Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.


Refund Policy

1. Mobile Purchases (iOS & Android)

Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store are subject to the respective store’s refund policies. We cannot directly issue refunds for these transactions.

2. Desktop Purchases (Paddle)

For purchases made on Windows or Linux via Paddle, our Merchant of Record:

  • Satisfaction Guarantee: If you are not satisfied with the Pro features, you may request a refund within 14 days of purchase.
  • How to Request: Please contact us at info@getmoulin.com with your transaction ID / receipt number.
  • Paddle Disputes: You may also contact Paddle support directly for billing queries, but we encourage you to contact us first to resolve any issues.

3. Subscription Cancellations

If applicable, you may cancel your subscription at any time. Your Pro features will remain active until the end of the current billing period. Refund requests for partial billing periods are handled on a case-by-case basis (for Desktop) or according to Store policies (for Mobile).
